Welfare of the child
The guidelines stipulate that fertility clinics must take into consideration the welfare of any child born as a result of the treatment and of any other existing child. This does not exclude any patient from being considered for the treatment.

During the consultation, several issues will be discussed including;
• Your commitment to having a child and providing a stable and supportive environment.
• Medical, social and family history.
• Any risk to the well being of the potential child.
• Implications of gamete donation if applicable

You will be asked to fill in a questionnaire re. the welfare of the child.
