Fetal anomaly scan:

Most major anomalies can now be diagnosed as early as 12 weeks including Anencephaly n and kidney problems either due to obstruction , hydronephrosis or abnormal kidney’s. However more subtle abnormalities such as Spina bifida, Hydrocephalous or limb abnormality may only become obvious until 18 weeks . A full anomaly scan is carried out usually between 18-20 weeks and this includes examination of the skull, face , palate, neck, chest, heart, stomach, diaphragm, bowel, kidney’s, umblicous, bladder , upper and lower limbs. In addition to checking heart beat, placental position andfetal growth.
