The answer to ‘how much does IVF cost in London?’ is not straight-forward. The issue with estimating the cost of IVF treatment is that everyone is individual, and so is their fertility treatment.
Private fertility clinics are available across the UK, but London is known far and wide for its wealth of fertility specialists. There is a reason people travel from all over the world to London for their fertility treatment. There are many types of fertility treatments available, but IVF is certainly the most well-known. We understand that knowing costs can help to reduce stress. Below we have outlined a basic example of an IVF treatment plan. Please bear in mind that every clinic has different prices, and every patient’s treatment plan will vary based on their individual situation, but this can act as a good starting point for estimating costs as not every cycle is the same.
The Cost Of Private IVF
Initial Assessment
Your fertility journey will usually begin with an initial consultation. This gives you the opportunity to speak in-depth with your fertility consultant about your health, your fertility journey so far, your goals and your medical history. An initial consultation is really important as it gives your fertility consultant an overview of your situation. If you have had any fertility testing already, it is recommended to bring the results with you to this appointment. We understand that the whole experience can feel overwhelming and you must have many questions. We also suggest making a list of questions you have beforehand to ensure you make the most of your time with your fertility consultant.
At this stage, it is normal for your fertility doctor to request the following screening tests, though this will vary depending on your individual circumstances. Costs for this stage will usually include:

Pre-treatment Investigations
Before any treatment commences, your fertility doctor will need to know if you or your partner have any STIs. Even if you don’t think you have any, this is an important step in the screening process. STIs are very common and can go undetected for years as they often don’t display any symptoms. Even if you haven’t noticed anything and think you’ve been safe, it’s still possible to have an STI. They can have a big impact on your fertility and so it is vital that any issues are uncovered as that could influence your treatment plan. They are also a legal requirement by the HFEA.

Treatment Costs
Once all screening has been completed, your treatment plan will be finalised and treatment can then begin. For the example below, we have explained the costs involved with a single IVF cycle with fresh eggs:
| In-vitro fertilisation, one cycle package: (IVF) Including ultrasound and hormone blood test monitoring, sedation, egg collection, laboratory work, blastocyst culture, FRESH embryo transfer, pregnancy test and follow-up appointment on the cycle being unsuccessful. (Does not include drugs, infection screening tests, HFEA fee, or any tests needed prior to start of ovarian stimulation in IVF. Will incur extra cost for ICSI, embryo freezing and storage). |

However, IVF and underlying fertility issues are complex, and you may need additional services to facilitate getting pregnant, such as:

Once you are pregnant you can claim your pregnancy hormone supportive medication on a free of charge NHS prescription via your GP. Progesterone supportive medication up to 12 weeks pregnancy can cost £270 on average.
