The integrity of the uterus is essential for conception.
Uterine cavity assessment allows your fertility doctor to assess the health of the uterus for any abnormalities that may be impacting fertility.
Uterine cavity assessment is usually recommended in cases of female infertility to ensure no stone is left unturned.
Unfortunately implantation failure or a miscarriage sometimes occur due to an abnormality in the uterine cavity. Abnormalities include polyps, adhesions, scar tissue, and even a septum that you were born with. Even minor abnormalities can cause problems, and dealing with them will improve your chances of success.
We can explore the uterine cavity by saline hysterography (Aqua Scan/SIS) in which we inject saline into the uterine cavity through a thin catheter and check its integrity by ultrasound scan. If the Aqua Scan shows any abnormality, we can then perform a hysteroscopy to determine the best course of action for treatment.
