Karen is a recent addition to The Fertility & Gynaecology Academy, having joined the team as a Senior Nurse Manager at the beginning of 2015. She has worked for 20 years at two fertility centres in Portsmouth and Southampton. In both centres she assisted the set-up of their IVF service, helping each clinic achieve their first HFEA license.
Karen is qualified both as a nurse and a midwife, and achieved her MSc with distinction in fertility related Advanced Clinical Practice. She is a non-medical prescriber and qualified in fertility ultrasound scanning. Additionally, she has undertaken national roles for the last ten years within the RCN Fertility Nurses Group Committee, the Senior Infertility Nurses Group and as a member of the HFEA Licensed Centres Panel.
Karen particularly values the close knit relationships that are achievable with patients of The Fertility & Gynaecology Academy, due to the intimate and personal clinic setting.
Samantha brings 23 years of experience in embryology to the team at FGA. She obtained her degree BSc (Hons) in Applied Biology specialising in Medical biotechnology and Clinical biochemistry and is recognised by the Health Care Professions Council as a state registered Clinical Embryologist.
Samantha began her career in embryology at Guy’s hospital in 1990 under Professor Michael Chapman, and has since worked as a Senior Embryologist at The Bridge Centre, Chaucer Hospital and Chelsea and Westminster hospital. Sam has also been the Clinical Lead for a Nuffield fertility centre.
She joined London Fertility Centre in 2006 as a Senior Embryologist before becoming the Lead Embryologist and Scientific Director, where she was responsible for setting up new scientific techniques such as PICSI, IMSI and time lapse imaging Sam is a licensed ICSI practitioner (1996) and Biopsy practitioner (2012) and leads our dedicated team of embryologists.
Laura has recently joined the team as a Clinical Embryologist at the Fertility & Gynaecology Academy. After completing a B.S. in Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Balearic Islands, Laura moved to the UK where she chose to specialise in reproductive sciences and obtained her MMedSci in Assisted Reproduction Technology from the University of Nottingham.
Laura began her career as a Trainee Embryologist in Madrid and spent three years working at the University Hospital Principe de Asturias before returning to the UK.
She joined The Fertility & Gynaecology Academy in 2015 and has already proven herself a valuable member of the clinical team. Laura is responsible for performing embryological procedures, including ICSI.
Laura is bilingual and can communicate in English and Spanish fluently.
